That reminded me of a similar scene from earlier in Jesus&#8217; life when a sinful woman wet his feet with her tears while he was dining at the home of a Pharisee (Luke 7:36-50). I did a prayer sketch based on that scene, starting with Rien Poortvliet&#8217;s rendition of it in <em>He Was One of Us<\/em>, then modifying it by sketching myself rather than the woman in Poortvliet&#8217;s sketch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"966\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/theartofprayer.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Anointing-Jesus-Feet-Holy-Monday-2025-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theartofprayer.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Anointing-Jesus-Feet-Holy-Monday-2025-2.jpg 966w, https:\/\/theartofprayer.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Anointing-Jesus-Feet-Holy-Monday-2025-2-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theartofprayer.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Anointing-Jesus-Feet-Holy-Monday-2025-2-768x543.jpg 768w, https:\/\/theartofprayer.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Anointing-Jesus-Feet-Holy-Monday-2025-2-600x424.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 966px) 100vw, 966px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As I sketched myself in the scene, not worrying about making a finished drawing but rather trying to capture the feel of the interaction, thoughts and questions kept arising in my heart and mind:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How would I have felt being so conspicuous, especially in a Pharisee&#8217;s home?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Would I be willing to touch dusty, unwashed feet? <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I&#8217;d feel awkward about someone touching my feet, especially in public. How would Jesus react to me touching his feet?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What would it be like to be so close to Jesus and have his hand on my shoulder?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Am I willing to be identified as a sinful woman?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do I see myself as a sinful woman?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is it like to hear Jesus&#8217; say to me, &#8220;Your sins are forgiven.
