Psalm 133; John 20:19; Acts 4:32-35
How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!
2 It is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
down on the collar of his robe.
3 It is as if the dew of Hermon
were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the Lord bestows his blessing,
even life forevermore. Psalm 133
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” John 20:19
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. Acts 4:32-35
Monday: Sit quietly with the soothing and refreshing images of being anointed with precious oil and of dew falling in a dry region. Ask God to help you contribute to good and pleasant unity that refreshes and soothes you and others.
Tuesday: The disciples met together when they were afraid and grieving, and Jesus came to them with his peace. Do you distance yourself or seek the company of fellow believers when you or others are struggling? Ask God to deepen your connections with other believers when circumstances are difficult.
Wednesday: What does it mean for believers to be one in heart and mind? Pray that we would each be seeking Christ above all, so that we would truly have unity in him.
Thursday: Pray that the way in which we handle our possessions and also our time and abilities would demonstrate our belief that Jesus is our Lord and would bring his grace to others.
Friday: Ask God to help you see the opportunities he brings your way to share with and encourage others, whether financially or with gifts of time or talents.
Saturday: Pray that through our unity, God’s blessings of grace, peace, and eternal life would be experienced among his people and throughout the world.
