“Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Prayer is responding to God, by thought and by deeds, with or without words.” (Book of Common Prayer)

Prayer, for me, often involves a visual element, whether I am picturing in my mind someone for whom I am praying, or reveling at a beautiful vista and praising God for his creation, or sketching a tree and pondering the ways it reveals something of how I can live in relation to God. This site is where I’ll be exploring and sharing my thoughts and experiences of the intersection of art and prayer in my life. At times the connection between art and prayer will be obvious. At other times, my experience or thoughts may seem to be “just” prayer or “just” art. Nearly always, though, my art leads me into prayer, whether with words or in silent communion with God, the Master Artist, and often prayer motivates me to respond with art. At times like that I tend to think that my art is a form of prayer.
