Hurts and Healing
Have you ever been hurt by someone who thought they were acting in the name of Christ? I have, in the past, and I know others who have been hurt by someone who thought they were doing God’s will. I was pondering this yesterday, the day we reflect on Jesus’ arrest the night before he was crucified.
The night before Jesus was crucified, Judas, one of his disciples, betrayed him and brought a crowd armed with swords to arrest Jesus. Jesus’ disciple Peter, in a misguided attempt to protect Jesus, struck one of the men with a sword, cutting off his ear. “But Jesus said, ‘No more of this!’ And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.” (Luke 22: 47-51)
Jesus touched the man’s ear and healed him… Jesus touches and heals those who have been hurt by his followers. He touches even his enemies with healing.
Jesus, touch and heal me and, through me, touch others with your healing love. Touch and heal anyone I may have hurt in any misguided actions.
