Praying Scripture

Unity

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me… 26I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” John 17:20-23, 26

Monday: Ponder the fact that Jesus prayed for us when he was on earth. Let that impact your thoughts and actions today.

Tuesday: Meditate on the perfect harmony between Jesus and the Father; pray that we would exemplify that harmony in our relationships with one another.

Wednesday: We are to be one “in Christ.” Pray that as a church (both local and worldwide) we would seek God wholeheartedly and find our life in him alone.

Thursday: Our unity is a powerful message to the world of the existence of God. Pray that would humble ourselves to seek true unity, in order to be a faithful witness to the world.

Friday: As we live in harmony, we will more fully experience God’s love through one another, also showing the world that God is a God of love. Think on this today.

Saturday: Jesus has revealed God in a way that enables us to deeply experience God’s love and presence. Ask God to open your heart and mind to this love and his presence and thank him for it.
