Hope and Assurance
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:19-20
Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:19- 22
Monday: Ponder the hope we have if we are followers of Jesus– that we are welcome in God’s presence, because Christ has led the way for us.
Tuesday: In what way is this hope an anchor for you in the ups and downs of life? We all face challenges, and for many this past year has held more than its share of difficulties. Ask God to help you place your hope fully in him, no matter what challenges you face.
Wednesday: Do you come to God with a sincere heart? We are not perfect, but, as our priest, Jesus cleanses us from sin and guilt if we come to him sincerely. He is now in heaven, presiding as high priest. Speak to him today with a sincere heart.
Thursday: Meditate on what an awesome privilege it is that we are allowed to come into the Most Holy Place, God’s presence, because Jesus has opened the way for us.
Friday: Praise Jesus that he gives us a firm and secure hope. Think about how that contrasts with what the world offers.
Saturday: Draw near to God today with the assurance that you can have through your faith in Jesus, knowing that he is in God’s presence, inviting and welcoming us.
